Key Qualifications:

Valid Educational Sign Language Interpreter certification or credential Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English Prior experience supporting students in educational settings preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

Responsibilities:

Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa for students, staff, and other stakeholders Adapt interpreting methods to meet individual student needs and varying learning environments Support instructional and extracurricular activities, ensuring students have access to all aspects of school life Collaborate closely with teachers, specialists, and support staff to aid student achievement Document sessions and participate in IEP meetings as required Serve as a resource on deaf culture and best practices for colleagues
