Job Description
Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced Sign Language Interpreter to work with a bright fifth-grade student in a welcoming elementary setting. This contract role spans the entire academic year, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact on a young learner's educational journey in a supportive classroom environment. In this position, you will provide individualized interpretation services for a student in a general education classroom. Your contribution will be integral to the student's access to instruction, peer communication, and overall educational success.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
Holds an active GaPSC Sign Language Interpreter Educator Certification Completion of district fingerprinting process, or willingness to complete prior to start Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school-based or educational setting is strongly preferred Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, and the ability to follow all school procedures and maintain confidentiality Comfortable working full-time hours onsite throughout the academic calendar
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver one-on-one sign language interpretation for a 5th grade student in all academic and classroom activities Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and instructional staff in a dynamic learning environment Collaborate with classroom teachers and special education staff to support the student's developmental and instructional needs Adhere to ethical standards and district policies regarding privacy and educational practices The assignment runs from September 10th, 2026, through May 26th, 2027, with a consistent weekday schedule from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm.
