Duties Provide real-time interpretation services for medical consultations, hospital visits, social work interactions, child protective services, and other healthcare-related encounters using interpretation methods such as over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) and video remote interpretation (VRI) Accurately translate medical terminology and clinical documentation while maintaining fidelity to the original message Facilitate effective communication between healthcare providers and patients by interpreting in accordance with clinical ethical guidelines and confidentiality policies Review medical records, documentation, and patient histories to ensure clarity and accuracy in communication Support hospital staff with translating medical records, social work reports, and other clinical documents as needed Uphold professional ethics by adhering to HIPAA regulations, clinical cultural competency standards, and confidentiality policies at all times Demonstrate cross-cultural communication skills to bridge cultural differences and promote understanding in diverse patient populations Qualifications Fluent in both Spanish and English, with excellent verbal and written interpretation skills in both languages Proven experience in medical interpretation or translation within healthcare settings such as hospitals or clinics Knowledge of medical terminology across various specialties and ability to translate complex medical concepts accurately Familiarity with HIPAA compliance, clinical confidentiality policies, and ethical guidelines for healthcare interpreters Experience with over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) and video remote interpretation (VRI) platforms preferred Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills and cultural competency awareness Ability to review medical records thoroughly and assist with documentation review processes Background working with social services or child protective services is a plus Certification as a Medical Interpreter or relevant training in interpretation is highly desirable Join us as a Spanish Medical Interpreter to empower patients through effective communication!
