Key Qualifications:
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and proficiency in interpreting in an academic setting Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or relevant credentials (EIPA, RID, or comparable) Prior experience supporting students K-12 is highly desirable Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible educational environment
Primary Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into sign for students and staff in classrooms and school events Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers/teachers Support educational goals and IEP requirements Adapt communication methods to individual student needs Maintain confidentiality and support a positive, respectful learning atmosphere
