9677229-60115 Job Description Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students success as a part-time Sign Language Interpreter. Located close to Dekalb, with work based in Burlington, IL, this contract role is focused on making a tangible impact in a high school setting. The position offers the chance to work with one high school student daily and foster accessible, inclusive communication during key afternoon hours throughout the school week.
Position Details:
Afternoon schedule: Monday Friday, 12:30 PM 3:00 PM (12.5 hours weekly) Long-term assignment: ASAP start continuing through May 2027 Work one-on-one with a high school student to facilitate classroom participation and support learning School-based, part-time contract role
Qualifications:
EIPA score of 3.0 or higher Either an active Professional Educator License (PEL) for interpreting in schools, or documentation showing that PEL application is in process Experience and/or training in educational interpreting preferred Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant modes of communication Professional, reliable, and able to provide supportive interaction in a school environment
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for one high school student in academic settings Aid student participation in classroom discussions and school activities Collaborate closely with teachers, special education team members, and parents as needed Adhere to confidentiality and professional guidelines for educational interpreters This position is ideal for interpreters seeking a predictable, afternoon-only schedule and the satisfaction of building lasting connections in a supportive school community.
