Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your expertise in sign language interpretation to meaningful contract roles supporting students in educational settings near Joliet, IL. Several openings are available for skilled professionals eager to foster communication and inclusion within K-12 schools. Current opportunities include full-time assignments at a middle school and an elementary school, as well as a part-time role at a high school. You'll play a key part in ensuring students who are deaf or hard of hearing can fully participate in their academic experience.
Required Qualifications:
Valid Sign Language Interpreter credentials Minimum 3.5 EIPA score with ISBE certification or 3.0+ EIPA with ISBE approval Strong knowledge of sign language interpretation techniques in educational settings Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and students Professionalism, reliability, and clear communication skills
Role Details:
Middle School, Cary, IL:
Full time, 35 hours per week (7 hours per day)
High School, Harvard, IL:
Part time, 20 hours per week (4 hours per day)
Elementary School, Aurora, IL:
Full time, 35 hours per week (7 hours per day)
Responsibilities:
Provide accurate, real-time sign language interpretation for students and staff during classroom instruction and school activities Support students' understanding of lesson content and social interactions Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school district guidelines Serve as a communication bridge between teachers, students, and families as needed Participate in team meetings and contribute to IEP discussions when required You'll have the chance to make a tangible difference every day in the learning journeys of students who rely on your skills.
