Job Description

Make an impact every day in a vibrant middle school setting where your expertise in sign language interpretation will help bridge communication and support student success. We're seeking a skilled professional to contribute in an onsite, full-time role, working as the primary interpreter for classrooms and school activities. This is a contract position with a welcoming educational community that values collaboration and professional growth.
Key Qualifications:
Hold a valid Illinois Sign Language Interpreter (IL SLI) license Experience interpreting at the middle school level is preferred Familiarity with IEP meetings, direct classroom support, and adapting communication strategies for various student needs Demonstrated professionalism, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills Ability to work efficiently within a multidisciplinary school team Knowledge of any additional district or state requirements relevant to sign language interpreting in Illinois schools
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide in-person sign language interpretation during instructional time, school assemblies, and extracurricular events Facilitate clear communication between students, staff, and the school community Support students educational access as outlined in their IEP or 504 plans Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical standards Collaborate with educators and specialists to sustain an inclusive learning environment Participate in ongoing professional development as needed Benefits include a competitive weekly compensation package, as well as access to health, dental, and vision insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan to support your future goals.
