Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a vital role supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a dynamic school environment near Roanoke, IN. In this contract opportunity as a school-based Sign Language Interpreter, your skills will help facilitate access to educational experiences and meaningful communication across classrooms and campus life. Flexibility in scheduling accommodates your needs while ensuring students receive the support they deserve.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
Delivering clear, accurate interpreting services for students in classroom instruction, meetings, extracurricular activities, and special events Bridging communication among students, teachers, staff, and peer groups Upholding confidentiality and modeling professionalism in all settings Collaborating closely with general and special education personnel in line with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and school guidelines Helping students access the full educational environment through advocacy and communication Supporting a positive, inclusive environment for all students Preferred qualifications include: Valid and appropriate certification/credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter Previous experience in educational or child-focused settings (strongly preferred) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work harmoniously within a collaborative educational team Commitment to upholding professional and ethical interpreting standards If you're eager to make a direct impact in the educational lives of students and enjoy collaborating with teachers and families, this position provides an inspiring platform to showcase your talents.
