Job Description
Do you have a passion for supporting students through sign language interpretation? Here's an opportunity to provide meaningful communication access and play a vital part in enhancing the educational experience for students with hearing and communication needs. This contract position requires on-site or hybrid coverage (at least four days a week), giving you a chance to directly support students participating in SAILS and STEPs programs. Your expertise as an Educational Sign Language Interpreter will empower students with hearing differences, nonverbal communication, or limited communication abilities to participate fully in classroom and school activities. You'll be crucial to the expansion of an innovative, supportive program dedicated to inclusion and success.
Ideal candidates bring:
Certification or credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI level required) Experience in educational settings, ideally between 0-7+ years Confidence in interpreting for students with a range of communication needs, including those with no or limited speech Cultural competence, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit Availability for in-person or hybrid scheduling (minimum 4 days per week on-site) Willingness to support student evaluations and participate as a team member in IEP meetings and classroom planning Your responsibilities will include: Providing accurate, confidential interpretation between students, staff, and peers in classroom and school settings Supporting students across academic and extra-curricular activities Assisting in evaluation processes for students requiring alternative communication support Collaborating closely with educators and therapy staff Documenting services as needed to support student learning goals Here is the chance to make an immediate differencebring your skills and dedication to a team that values your expertise.
