We are seeking a dedicated Spanish Interpreter / Support Services Associate I to join our team. In this dual-role position, you will help bridge communication between Spanish- and English-speaking individuals while also providing essential front desk, clerical, patient support, and community outreach services. Your work will directly impact the accessibility of healthcare and public health services in our communities by helping individuals feel heard, understood, and supported while connecting Spanish-speaking individuals and families with the programs and services available through WEDCO. This position will be primarily based in Scott County and will require travel to other WEDCO locations and community outreach sites throughout the district as needed. The ideal candidate is bilingual, detail-oriented, comfortable working with the public, and passionate about serving others, building community connections, and helping individuals access valuable healthcare and public health resources. Key Responsibilities Provide accurate, culturally sensitive interpretation between Spanish and English during conversations, appointments, meetings, and patient interactions. Translate written materials, including documents, forms, reports, educational materials, and correspondence, between Spanish and English. Provide front desk and clinic support, including registering patients, scheduling appointments, creating files, checking patients out, and collecting payments for services rendered. Interview patients to obtain required non-medical information, such as identification and income information, in accordance with agency and program policies. Compile and maintain medical records and necessary registration forms. Participate in training to become proficient in Patient and Community Health Services Reporting and Billing Procedures (PSRS). Participate in community outreach activities designed to increase awareness of WEDCO programs and services, with an emphasis on engaging Spanish-speaking and Hispanic individuals and families. Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, businesses, events, and other community partners to help connect Spanish-speaking populations with WEDCO services and resources. Assist with outreach and educational efforts by sharing information about WEDCO programs, services, and how individuals can access care. Represent WEDCO in a professional and culturally respectful manner at community events, outreach activities, and other public-facing opportunities. Maintain confidentiality at all times and follow professional ethics and standards. Continue developing language skills and knowledge of medical, public health, and community service terminology. Travel to other WEDCO locations and community outreach sites as needed. Requirements Fluency in Spanish and English (both oral and written). Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to convey messages clearly and accurately. Excellent written communication and translation skills. Proficient computer skills and comfort learning new software. Knowledge and understanding of cultural differences and nuances to ensure accurate, respectful, and sensitive communication. Ability to comfortably engage with individuals and families in both clinic and community settings. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Professionalism, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to a variety of situations and work environments. Ability and willingness to travel to other WEDCO locations and community events as needed.
Preferred but not required:
