Job Description

Bring your sign language expertise to a dynamic school setting supporting high school students from August 2026 through May 2027. This contract-based opportunity offers a full-time schedule, working 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, following the academic calendar. Your vital contribution will empower students to engage confidently with peers, teachers, and their learning environment.
Qualifications:
Proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter, comfortable working in educational settings. Valid EIPA score of 4.0, including the written component, and current status on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Dept. of Health). Alternatively, holding RID or NIC certification (written portion included) also meets requirements, but must be registered per Louisiana guidelines. Experience supporting high school-aged students preferred. Ability to meet districts fingerprinting and drug screening requirements promptly. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a focus on student advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide real-time sign language interpretation for high school students in a variety of academic settings. Partner with educators and support staff to ensure clear, effective communication. Adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs and contexts. Maintain accurate documentation and support compliance with all state and district policies. Engage positively with administrators, families, and students to foster an inclusive educational environment. Flexibly travel to assigned school sites as needed.
