Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting students in a K-12 educational setting as a 1:1 Sign Language Interpreter. This contract opportunity places you in a dynamic environment where your skills will directly impact the academic and social journey of a learner needing 1:1 interpreting services. You'll collaborate closely with educational teams and help foster an inclusive and accessible learning atmosphere. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through May 28, 2027, offering steady, meaningful work over multiple school years.
Key Qualifications:
Demonstrated proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in school environments EIPA score of 3.0 or higher (required for consideration) Experience working with students in K-12 settings highly preferred Professional communication skills and collaborative spirit Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in educational interpreting
Your Responsibilities:
Provide direct, one-on-one sign language interpreting for a student within the K-12 caseload Accurately convey spoken and signed language between students, educators, and peers throughout the school day Support the academic and social participation of the assigned student Prepare in advance for classroom content and assignments to facilitate effective communication Collaborate with educators and other service providers to ensure seamless integration of interpretive services Maintain detailed records and communicate progress as needed This full-time role offers the chance to make a significant, lasting difference in a student's daily life by ensuring language access and promoting inclusion.
