Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting a young learner as a Sign Language Interpreter/Language Facilitator for a Kindergarten student. This contract opportunity offers a nurturing school-based environment and the chance to provide essential communication services to a child at the start of their educational journey. Enjoy working closely with elementary educators and helping bridge communication in an inclusive classroom setting.
Qualifications & Desired Skills:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in an educational setting Ability to foster communication and engagement with young children Patience, compassion, and a collaborative approach within a classroom team Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for Kindergarten-age students Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a dedicated interpreter for a Kindergarten student who communicates primarily through sign language Facilitate interactions between the student, peers, and classroom staff to support full participation in classroom activities Adapt interpreting tactics to meet the unique needs of a non-hearing-impaired student using sign language as a primary mode of communication Maintain clear, accurate interpretation of instructional content and classroom exchanges Collaborate with teachers and support staff to provide the best possible learning environment Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards at all times
