Key Qualifications:

ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) score of 4.1 or higher required Experience interpreting in educational or school settings preferred Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the unique needs of young learners Effective communication, professionalism, and reliability High school diploma or equivalent; formal interpreting certification is a plus

Core Responsibilities:

Provide direct 1:1 interpretation services for students during classroom activities, assemblies, and school programs Ensure accurate message conveyance between students, educators, and peers Adapt sign language interpreting to meet student learning styles and teacher instructions Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical interpreting standards Participate in IEP meetings and contribute interpreting insight for student support plans Collaborate with educators to help deliver inclusive classroom experiences
