This full-time, contract opportunity runs the entire school year and is vital in supporting a student who recently transitioned into the district. After a year of substitutes, both the student and staff are eager for a consistent, in-person interpreter dedicated to this role—your presence will be truly valued in fostering meaningful connections and academic success.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven experience in educational settings Ability to interpret effectively between students, teachers, and staff Previous experience working with high school-aged students is highly desirable Familiarity with IEPs and collaborating with special education teams Strong interpersonal and communication abilities Commitment to professional ethics and maintaining student confidentiality Certification or licensure as required by state or national interpreting standards

Your Responsibilities:

Provide clear, accurate interpretation between English and ASL in classroom and school-related activities Support the student's inclusion in academic, social, and extracurricular settings Work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and specialists Adapt interpreting techniques to suit various learning environments and activities Serve as an educational ally, fostering independence and confidence in the student Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
