You'll play a vital role as a Sign Language Interpreter, working directly with the student throughout the full academic year. This is an in-person, full-time contract opportunity where your expertise will make a meaningful impact.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and thorough understanding of interpreting practices in educational settings Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools, preferably at the high school level Ability to accurately interpret spoken English into ASL and vice versa Strong communication skills and dedication to fostering an inclusive learning environment Collaborative, flexible, and professional approach with both students and staff
Responsibilities:
Ensure clear, effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers in all classroom and school-related activities Interpret lectures, instructions, discussions, and extracurricular events Support the student's social and academic engagement throughout the school day Collaborate with educators and support staff to help tailor strategies that promote the student's success Maintain ethical standards of confidentiality and impartiality The student you'll be working with transferred last year and has had a series of substitute interpreters. As the preferred in-person interpreter, you'll provide much-needed stability, helping the student thrive academically and socially.
