Required Skills & Experience:

Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience interpreting in educational or school settings is highly valued Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to confidentiality and ethical practices Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families Flexibility to adapt interpreting strategies for a variety of instructional settings

Responsibilities:

Provide real-time interpretation for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing in classroom and school activities Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers during lessons, assemblies, and other school events Adapt signing levels and vocabulary based on student needs and educational content Participate in individualized education program (IEP) meetings when required Maintain accurate documentation of interpreting assignments and student progress Support the development of inclusive educational opportunities by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams Uphold professional standards and adhere to the code of ethics for interpreters This long-term assignment runs from as soon as possible through May 26, 2027, providing a unique opportunity to form meaningful connections and witness students progress firsthand.
