Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting students in an educational setting as a Sign Language Interpreter on a contract basis. Work side-by-side with dedicated educators to help bridge communication between students, staff, and families, ensuring every student has access to a rich educational experience.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with excellent interpretive skills. Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in school environments. Ability to facilitate clear communication in both individual and group settings. Comfortable adapting to various classroom subjects and age groups. Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and confidentiality when working with students and staff. Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state certification), if required.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide interpreting services for students, staff, and family members who are deaf or hard of hearing during classes and school activities. Ensure accurate and effective relay of spoken and signed communication in academic, extracurricular, and community-related events within the school environment. Adapt interpreting styles to best fit student needs, educational content, and context. Collaborate with classroom teachers and special education teams to support classroom instruction.
