9662646-89460 Job Description Step into a dynamic school-based role as a Sign Language Interpreter, supporting Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in Carson City, Nevada. As an essential member of the educational team, your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) will foster access, inclusion, and meaningful participation throughout the school day. Monday through Friday during standard school hours, youll enable students to fully engage in classroom learning, school activities, and social interactions, making a lasting impact on their educational journey.

Responsibilities include:

Delivering precise and impartial ASL interpretation for classroom instruction, meetings, and school events. Facilitating communication among students, teachers, staff, and peers to create an inclusive environment. Collaborating with teachers and special education professionals to support student participation and engagement. Adapting interpreting styles to meet the diverse needs of individual students. Maintaining confidentiality and upholding professional interpreting standards. Assisting during assemblies, field trips, extracurricular activities, and other school functions. Documenting services provided and sharing relevant observations with educational teams. Contributing to a respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning atmosphere.

Qualifications we seek:

Certification, licensure, or authorization to work as a Sign Language Interpreter in Nevada, as required. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English. Experience in school or pediatric settings preferred. Strong understanding of educational interpreting standards and confidentiality requirements. Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Ability to support students across a range of ages and communication methods. Successful completion of background checks and all school-district onboarding requirements.

Additional preferred experience:

One-on-one educational interpreting. Previous work with Deaf or hard-of-hearing students. Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Collaboration within multidisciplinary educational teams. Knowledge of Deaf culture and best practices in communication.
