Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or equivalent credentials Experience interpreting in educational settings preferred Understanding of Deaf culture and sensitivity to the needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students Ability to adapt interpreting style to various content areas and age groups Clear communication and professional interpersonal skills Strong commitment to confidentiality and ethical interpreting practices
Responsibilities & Duties:
Provide sign language interpreting services for students in a variety of classroom and school settings Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers Interpret lectures, discussions, school events, and extracurricular activities as needed Support student independence and promote equal access to education Collaborate with educational teams to ensure accommodations and strategies meet individual student needs Maintain accurate records and adhere to all policies for educational interpreters
