This contract position offers a meaningful chance to make a difference, providing 1:1 services in a dynamic school environment near Columbia, SC. The assignment begins as soon as possible and extends through May 28, 2027, ensuring stability and consistency for both you and the student.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (state requirements apply) Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience working in educational settings, ideally within elementary schools Experience providing direct 1:1 interpreting services for children Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with educators, parents, and school teams Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to inclusion and accessibility
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, accurate sign language interpretation for an elementary student throughout the school day Facilitate clear communication during classroom instruction, group activities, and school events Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support the student's IEP and learning objectives Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Adapt interpreting methods to meet the student's unique needs and learning style Foster an encouraging and inclusive environment, empowering the student's educational development This full-time position requires an onsite presence with a start time of 7:40 am, allowing you to be an integral part of the student's daily school experience.
