Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of students and support inclusive education as a Sign Language Interpreter in the beautiful Lowcountry region near Hilton Head Island. Begin a rewarding contract role supporting students in a dynamic school setting for the 20262027 academic year. With full-time hours across multiple locationsincluding Beaufort, Bluffton, and Hilton Head Islandyoull be part of an engaged educational community that values communication access and cultural awareness. Enjoy the opportunity to use your interpreting skills in a setting that encourages learning and student growth, while collaborating closely with teachers and staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter, with a minimum score of 3.5 EIPA Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with K-12 educational environments Professionalism and flexibility for work across varied grade levels and school sites Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families Ability to support diverse learning needs and promote accessibility in the classroom
Position Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and extracurricular activities for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and peers Adapt interpreting methods as needed for individual student needs and educational settings Collaborate with educators to ensure accessibility during assessments and school events Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical interpreting standards throughout placement
