Description:
This is a contract position located in North Charleston, SC. This role requires, Associate's degree or completion of a sign language interpreter training program and Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA score ~3.2-3.5 or higher). The role is scheduled for the 26-27 school year.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction, activities, and discussions between ASL and spoken English. Provide interpretation during classes, meetings, conferences, assemblies, and school events. Facilitate effective communication among students, teachers, peers, and staff. Review lesson plans and materials to ensure accurate interpretation. Adapt interpreting techniques to students' communication needs and abilities. Support IEP implementation and participate in IEP meetings. Support students' academic, vocabulary, social, and communication development. Accurately convey message content, tone, and intent while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards. Collaborate with teachers and special education teams to promote student progress and an inclusive learning environment. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree or completion of a sign language interpreter training program Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA score ~3.2-3.5 or higher) Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing (preferred) Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree National certification (RID
