Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract An exciting opportunity awaits those skilled in American Sign Language interpretation! We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide essential communication support in educational settings near Spartanburg, SC. As a contract Sign Language Interpreter, you'll make a meaningful difference by ensuring students and staff have equitable access to classroom information and resources.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in school or educational environments Valid nationally recognized interpreting certification (such as EIPA, RID, or NIC), or eligibility to obtain certification Ability to interpret both one-on-one and in group instructional settings Strong collaboration skills for working closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff Committed to maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating professionalism at all times
Responsibilities:
Facilitate clear communication between students, faculty, and staff by providing real-time interpreting services in classrooms and school activities Adapt interpreting techniques to various subjects and age groups Work proactively with educators to understand lesson plans and support instructional goals Participate in educational meetings and help build inclusive environments Provide feedback to staff on communication effectiveness, when appropriate Maintain accurate records of interpreting assignments and student progress as needed
