Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a positive difference each day by supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. This contract opportunity invites you to provide valuable educational services to learners who are deaf or hard of hearing, serving as a resource to students, families, and school staff. If you are passionate about accessible education and skilled in facilitating learning for students with hearing differences, this role is an excellent fit for you.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Previous teaching experience in a school setting, preferably with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students Deep understanding of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication strategies for deaf/hard of hearing students Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams, families, and related service providers Ability to develop and modify instructional materials to meet students' needs Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction to students identified as Deaf or Hard of Hearing Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to students' language and communication needs Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and contribute to the creation of appropriate educational goals Maintain accurate records on student progress and services provided Serve as an advocate for students, supporting access to school-wide resources, activities, and curriculum This contract assignment offers an exceptional opportunity to use your specialized skills, make an impact, and grow within a supportive educational environment.
