Desired Qualifications and Experience:

Current proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting preferred Demonstrated ability to interpret effectively in real-time classroom and school contexts Understanding of Deaf culture and sensitivity to the communication needs of students Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with other educational professionals Relevant certification or licensure as required by state guidelines

Key Responsibilities:

Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa for students, teachers, and staff Facilitate clear communication during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities Adapt interpreting styles to fit a range of age groups and educational subject matter Assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by supporting communication objectives Work collaboratively with teachers and special education staff to foster student participation and inclusion Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards at all times
