Position Summary:

Languages Unlimited, LLC is seeking qualified American Sign Language interpreters for a recurring onsite assignment in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The interpreter team will provide communication access for one Deaf student enrolled in carpentry studies . Services will take place primarily in classroom and hands-on workshop environments. We are open to either of the following staffing arrangements: One full-time interpreter covering Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; or Two part-time interpreters dividing the recurring weekly schedule to provide complete coverage Applicants who cannot cover the entire schedule are encouraged to apply and clearly state the days and hours they are available. Appropriate rest periods will be provided during the workday. The assigned interpreter or interpreter team will also assess the demands of the assignment and communicate when additional interpreter support may be needed to remain consistent with applicable ASL Interpreting policies and professional guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide accurate, complete, and impartial interpreting between ASL and spoken English. Support one Deaf student during classroom instruction and hands-on carpentry training. Interpret communication involving the student, instructors, staff, and other authorized participants. Become familiar with relevant carpentry terminology, classroom routines, and workshop procedures. Maintain continuity and consistency throughout the student's program. Coordinate effectively with another part-time interpreter when the schedule is divided. Maintain clear handoff procedures to support consistent terminology and service continuity. Assess the duration, complexity, physical demands, and communication intensity of the assignment. Notify Languages Unlimited when a second interpreter or additional support may be appropriate. Follow facility access, badge, safety, security, and professional-conduct requirements. Maintain strict confidentiality concerning the student and all assignment-related information. Complete required service records and administrative documentation accurately and on time.

Schedule and Staffing Options:

Full-Time Option Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Approximately 35 hours per week Consistent recurring onsite coverage Part-Time Options Two part-time interpreters may divide the weekly schedule.

Possible arrangements could include:

Specific full days assigned to each interpreter Morning and afternoon coverage blocks Another consistent division that provides complete coverage The final part-time schedule will be established based on interpreter availability and operational needs. Applicants must clearly identify all available days and hours. Part-time candidates may also be considered for backup or supplemental coverage.

Work Environment:

Services will be provided at an educational and vocational training center in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.

The work environment may include:

Classroom instruction Carpentry workshops Hands-on vocational activities Meetings and conferences Student activities and authorized events Training and staff-development sessions Other authorized locations associated with the student's program Because the assignment includes carpentry instruction, applicants must be comfortable working in an active vocational workshop and complying with applicable safety procedures.

Required Qualifications:

At least one year of professional ASL interpreting experience Strong receptive and expressive interpreting skills Ability to interpret accurately between ASL and spoken English Ability to work consistently in classroom and hands-on workshop settings Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries Ability to follow the RID Code of Professional Conduct Reliable transportation to the onsite location Ability to comply with facility access, conduct, and safety requirements Ability to provide the required onboarding and credential documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

Educational interpreting experience Vocational or technical-training interpreting experience Experience in carpentry, construction, industrial, or workshop settings Experience supporting a recurring student assignment Familiarity with technical or trade-related terminology Experience coordinating coverage with another interpreter Experience determining when team interpreting or additional interpreter support is appropriate

Facility Access and Onboarding:

A building-access badge will be provided. The selected interpreter or interpreters must comply with all facility-access and badge requirements.

Current CV RID, NAD, BEI, or other nationally recognized certification Government-issued photo identification Work-authorization documentation Applicable licenses or credentials Confidentiality acknowledgment Professional-conduct acknowledgment Facility-specific forms Applicable safety, access, or rules-of-behavior documentation All applicable onboarding requirements must be completed before onsite services begin.

Travel and Compensation:

Applicants must propose an hourly rate that includes all routine commuting expenses. Mileage, commuting time, travel time, and other routine travel expenses must be included in the proposed hourly rate. These expenses will not be reimbursed separately for regular onsite attendance.
