Position Overview:
The Light Park is looking for strong freelance AV technicians to help build, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot our holiday light show at the Mesquite, TX drive-thru location. We are looking for people who are available from mid-October through the first couple weeks of January and can help keep the show running smoothly during setup, show season, and strike. This is not just a general labor position. The strongest candidates will have hands-on audio, lighting, DMX, show control, xLights, FPP / Falcon Player, stagehand, live event production, holiday light show, or field tech experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Build, test, operate, and troubleshoot holiday light show equipment. Support lighting, audio, show controllers, networking, power, props, cabling, and field equipment. Help with setup, nightly show startup, testing, shutdown, maintenance, and strike. Troubleshoot issues during live show hours and keep the guest experience running smoothly. Work with show computers, Raspberry Pis / FPP, low-voltage equipment, DMX, lighting controllers, and basic tools as needed. Communicate clearly with site leadership, stagehands, AV/event labor, and other seasonal crew members. Help keep the event site organized, safe, and ready for nightly operations.
Qualifications:
Strong AV, audio, lighting, stagehand, live event production, show control, field tech, or similar hands-on technical experience preferred. Freelance AV technicians, event techs, lighting techs, audio techs, stagehands, and production crew are a strong fit. Must be available from mid-October through the first couple weeks of January. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required during the season. Able to lift, carry, pull cable, use basic tools, and work on your feet outdoors. Reliable transportation to the Mesquite, TX show site. Dependable, punctual, safety-minded, and comfortable working in a fast-moving live event environment.
Strong Plus:
xLights experience. Holiday light show experience. FPP / Falcon Player experience. DMX, lighting control, show networking, Raspberry Pi, low-voltage, or basic electrical experience. Concert, festival, theater, sports venue, production company, or recurring seasonal event experience.
Schedule and Pay:
Seasonal / freelance work from mid-October through early January. Full-time and part-time options available. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required. Pay is $25 per hour.
