Work Schedule This is a part-time position and will work up to 29 hours a week that include evenings, and weekends. Sensitive Position No Job Description Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is one of the largest of Virginia's 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. Brightpoint Community College's mission is to provide quality educational opportunities that inspire student success and community vitality. It envisions a success story for every student. The Theatre Technician is responsible for technical aspects of events held in Brightpoint Community College's Lynn Theatre, located on the Midlothian campus. Will assist in booking and scheduling events, and with ensuring a high standard of hospitality in communicating with renters, performers, patrons, and visiting artists. Will supervise student workers in the areas of: Auditorium, Scene Shop, Lighting, Front of House, Sound, and Props and assign students to work when the theatre is in use for productions and rehearsals. Reports directly to the Department Chair for Performing Arts. Please note that this is a part-time position and will work up to 29 hours a week that include evenings, and weekends. No state benefits. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications Candidates must have work experience as a Theater Technician in one or more areas. Knowledge of theatre management and equipment used for lighting, scenic design, sound design, and costume design is essential. Must have supervisory skills and be able to communicate effectively with leadership, colleagues, internal clients, faculty, staff and students. Candidates must be comfortable working under tight deadlines and must possess the ability to work independently with limited supervision and as a member of a team. Successful completion and passing of a background check is required for employment. Additional Considerations Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre in Lighting, Stage Management, Sound, Scenic or Costume Design.
