This is more than a traditional photo-session assignment. We are looking for someone who understands the modeling industry and can provide informed guidance throughout the portfolio-building process—from creating strong digitals and selecting wardrobe to planning portfolio images that align with agency and commercial-client expectations. Responsibilities Conduct an initial session for professional digitals/Polaroids Evaluate current photographs, presentation, wardrobe, and overall marketability Recommend the types of images needed for a competitive commercial and lifestyle portfolio Help plan looks, locations, lighting, styling, and shot selection Provide direction on posing, expression, movement, and working naturally on camera Photograph and professionally edit the agreed-upon portfolio images Help select the strongest final images for agency submissions, casting profiles, social media, and marketing materials Offer practical guidance on approaching agencies and building a portfolio strategically Potentially continue as an ongoing photographer and creative consultant Required Qualifications Professional experience photographing male models, actors, or commercial talent A strong portfolio featuring modeling, fashion, lifestyle, editorial, or commercial photography Experience creating agency-standard digitals or modeling portfolios Confidence directing someone who is newer to professional modeling A practical understanding of what modeling agencies and commercial clients look for Strong communication and collaborative planning skills Based in or able to work in the Grand Rapids/West Michigan area Experience working with modeling agencies, casting professionals, stylists, or talent managers is strongly preferred.
