Job Description

WANTED:
LIVE COIN SALES HOST / RESIDENT COIN NERD
Quirky Humans, Eccentrics & Delightful Weirdos Strongly Encouraged to Apply Lavoro Coin | Elizabeth City, NC We need someone to sell really cool coins on the internet. But we're not looking for a traditional salesperson. We're looking for a character. A lovable eccentric. A history nerd. A collector of useless facts. Someone who has fallen down a three-hour research rabbit hole and emerged with information nobody asked for—but everyone somehow ends up fascinated by. Our shop's motto is:
KEEP IT WEIRD.
And we mean it. We don't want someone who has to pretend to be quirky for the camera. We want someone who already lives there. Someone who embraces the things that make them different. Someone with unusual interests, niche obsessions, questionable amounts of knowledge about extremely specific subjects, and absolutely no desire to sand off their personality to appear more "professional." Around here, weird isn't something we're trying to fix. It's practically a job qualification.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR OUR KIND OF PERSON.
Maybe you've always been the weird one. The history nerd. The collector. The theater kid. The person with an oddly specific hobby. The one who casually says, "Actually, there's a really interesting story behind that…" and suddenly everyone is 20 minutes deep into a subject they didn't know they cared about. Maybe your friends send you pictures of bizarre antiques because "you'll probably know what this is." Maybe you've been told: "You know a concerning amount about that." Perfect. Come sit with us. THE JOB We sell rare, historic, unusual, collectible, and sometimes seriously high-value coins and precious metals, and we're looking for someone charismatic enough to bring them to life during livestream sales. Yes, you'll be selling coins. But you'll also be telling stories, interacting with collectors, explaining why something is fascinating, making people laugh, answering questions, and occasionally holding a tiny piece of metal worth thousands of dollars while trying to comprehend the fact that someone made it before electricity was common. We want someone who genuinely thinks that's cool.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A COIN EXPERT.
We can teach you coins. We can't teach you to be delightfully weird. We're looking for someone who is: Quirky, eccentric, nerdy, or wonderfully unconventional Comfortable letting their real personality show Naturally curious Quick-witted and conversational Funny without needing a scripted punchline Comfortable on camera A little theatrical Excited by weird history and obscure facts Capable of becoming completely fascinated by tiny details Comfortable talking with equally enthusiastic collectors Trustworthy enough to handle merchandise worth hundreds or thousands of dollars Able to explain complicated things without sucking all the fun out of them Completely comfortable working somewhere whose motto is literally
KEEP IT WEIRD
If you already love coins, fantastic. If your current obsession is Roman history, trains, rocks, watches, Pokémon, vintage electronics, maps, fossils, astronomy, antiques, military history, old books, mechanical keyboards, medieval weaponry, obscure presidents, or some extraordinarily specific subject we haven't even heard of yet—also fantastic. We don't particularly care what kind of nerd you are. We just want evidence that you're capable of becoming one of ours.
YOUR JOB IS TO MAKE PEOPLE CARE.
Anyone can hold up an old silver dollar and say: "Here's an old silver dollar." We don't want that. We want the person whose brain immediately starts firing: Who carried this thing? Why was it made? How many survived? Why does this one look different? What was happening in America when somebody spent this? Why are collectors fighting over this variety? And why does that microscopic mark underneath the eagle's left wing apparently
CHANGE EVERYTHING?
! That's our person. Coins are tiny historical artifacts with some absolutely wild stories attached to them. Your job is to make the audience see what you see.
WE DON'T WANT AN
"
INFLUENCER.
" Well… not the traditional kind. If by influencer you mean perfectly curated feeds, rehearsed reactions, ring lights, and calling everything you're mildly interested in "literally obsessed"—probably not what we're after. If by influencer you mean you've spent the last six months attempting to influence your cat to learn Japanese because you're convinced he has the aptitude but lacks discipline… Yes. That's exactly the kind of person we're looking for. We aren't trying to manufacture a perfectly polished social-media personality. We don't need someone who looks like they were assembled in a marketing department. We want someone memorable. Someone collectors recognize. Someone viewers quote. Someone who develops inside jokes with the audience. Someone who can teach something without sounding like they're teaching. Someone who occasionally makes us wonder exactly what is going to come out of their mouth next. Someone whose hobbies occasionally require the follow-up question: "I'm sorry…you're doing WHAT?" We want someone who can build a community of fellow collectors, history nerds, treasure hunters, metal obsessives, and lovable oddballs. We want viewers to come for the coins and eventually realize they're also coming back to see you. And if your cat is bilingual by then, even better.
KEEP IT WEIRD. WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO
You'll host livestream sales featuring collectible coins, rare coins, precious metals, and unusual numismatic pieces. You'll learn the stories behind what you're selling, explain interesting features, interact with viewers, answer questions, create excitement around new pieces, and help customers discover things they want in their collections. You'll also help us create short-form videos, educational content, recurring segments, running jokes, themed streams, and whatever other strange ideas we collectively decide are brilliant.
And most importantly:
You get to develop your own on-camera personality. We don't want you pretending to be someone else. THE "
KEEP IT WEIRD
" RULE At Lavoro Coin, KEEP
IT WEIRD
isn't just something we put on a sign. It's permission to be enthusiastic. To have strange interests. To ask questions. To obsess over details. To laugh. To experiment. To be memorable. To care way too much about something incredibly specific. Because that's basically what collecting is. Collectors are people who looked at something ordinary and decided it was worth paying closer attention to. We love that. And we want our livestream host to embody it.
HOW TO APPLY
You must complete both steps: Apply through Indeed. Email your video link to 30-60 second video to info@lavorocoin.com .
In your video:
Introduce yourself. Tell us about the nerdiest thing you're interested in right now. Sell us on why we absolutely need the nearest knick-knack to you in our lives. Upload the video to Google Drive or YouTube as a viewable private/unlisted link, then email us the link. Don't overthink it. Don't manufacture a personality, and please don't try to sound more normal. If you've spent years learning to tone yourself down, this might be one of the rare job applications where we're asking you to do the opposite.
KEEP IT WEIRD.
Bring us the obscure facts. Bring us the bizarre hobbies. Bring us the enthusiasm. Bring us the personality. Bring us the person who sees a 150-year-old coin and immediately says: "WAIT. You guys have to see this." If you're charismatic, curious, trustworthy, entertaining, and proudly eccentric enough to make strangers on the internet want to hang out with you while you sell them tiny pieces of history… You might already understand exactly what "Keep It Weird" means. And if you do? We should probably talk.
