About Us Vita Organica Supplements is a dietary supplement manufacturer opening in Bogalusa, Louisiana in the coming weeks. We produce functional honey sachets, powders, gummies, and capsule products for our own brands and for contract manufacturing customers. Our facility is coming online now, which means the person in this seat will help set the standards, build the routines, and shape how this plant runs for years to come. If you want to inherit someone else's system, this isn't it. If you want to build one, keep reading. The Role You own the floor. Day to day, that means turning the order book into a workable production schedule, making sure every batch runs on time and to spec, and making sure the paperwork behind every batch is complete, accurate, and audit-ready before it leaves your hands. You will lead a lean, cross-trained crew that flexes across product formats depending on what's running that week. You'll work alongside a Quality Control function that sets the standards and performs release; your job is to run production to those standards and make sure your operators execute the documentation correctly. What You'll Do Production Planning & Scheduling Build weekly and daily production schedules from invoices, factoring in due dates, material availability, equipment changeover time, and labor Sequence runs to minimize changeovers and allergen/cleaning burden Communicate schedule changes early to stakeholders Flag material shortages, capacity conflicts, and at-risk ship dates before they become late orders Order Fulfillment & On-Time Delivery Own on-time, in-full delivery performance for every customer order Coordinate with warehouse and shipping so finished goods are packed, labeled, and staged to hit the ship date Track yield, throughput, and downtime; report weekly on output vs. plan GMP Compliance & Documentation Ensure operators complete all required production records in real time and correctly: batch production records, line clearance, equipment cleaning logs, sanitation logs, weight checks, metal detection/checkweigher verification, environmental and utility logs Perform first-line review of completed records before they go to QC — catch missing entries, unexplained deviations, and correction errors. Enforce good documentation practices with the crew. Escalate deviations, out-of-spec results, and non-conformances to QC immediately and support investigations and CAPA Maintain audit readiness at all times; support FDA, customer, and third-party audits Team Leadership Directly supervise a cross-trained production crew that scales up and down with campaign volume Train and qualify operators on equipment, SOPs, GMP conduct, sanitation, and documentation; maintain training records Schedule labor to demand, manage attendance, and handle day-to-day performance coaching Equipment & Facility Coordinate with the mechanic and run preventive maintenance schedules; coordinate outside service and manage spare parts Oversee master sanitation schedule execution and verify cleaning effectiveness with QC Maintain pest control, utility, and facility logs Safety & Continuous Improvement Enforce safe work practices, PPE compliance, lockout/tagout, and chemical handling; investigate incidents and near-misses Identify and drive improvements in yield, changeover time, scrap, and labor efficiency What You Bring 2+ years supervising production in dietary supplements, food, beverage, nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical manufacturing Demonstrated experience building production schedules from customer orders and hitting ship dates Hands-on experience with batch records and GMP documentation; you know what a complete record looks like and what an auditor will pull first Proven ability to train, lead, and hold accountable an hourly production crew Solid computer skills: Excel, email, and ERP or MRP systems Able to work on-site in Bogalusa, LA, with flexibility for early starts, occasional extended shifts, and weekend runs during peak campaigns Preferred Experience in a startup or newly commissioned plant Experience with contract manufacturing and multiple customers running through one facility Familiarity with viscous or hot-fill products (honey, syrups, gels) Bilingual English/Spanish Experience supporting FDA inspections, NSF/GMP audits, or customer quality audits Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; lift and move up to 50 lbs; bend, reach, and climb stairs and ladders; work in a manufacturing environment with variable temperatures, noise, and exposure to food-grade ingredients and cleaning chemicals; comply with GMP dress code including hairnets, beard nets, gloves, and safety footwear.
