Job Description

The Executive Producer is the chief student leader of BG24's The Swoop, the student-led sportscast, ensuring professional operation. This person oversees all newscasts, programs, and video content, ensuring professional quality and efficient use of resources. Works with Falcon Media Sports Network director to ensure cross-platform collaboration. Works with The Swoop adviser to coordinate auditions and select anchors Assists in training of volunteers, interns and staff to maintain exceptional sportscast quality Works as line producer of The Swoop in the fall and spring; works with SMC classes (when applicable) as executive producer to oversee show production Manages on-air presentation of assigned sportscasts, including show content, look and live reports. Works with producers-in-training and associate producers (APs), assigning b-roll, stories and formatting the newscast Distributes assignments to staff, interns, and volunteers, following up to ensure deadlines are met Works with staff on what needs to be done: write stories, help with editing, create lower thirds and graphics, etc. Organizes submitted news content, making sure sound on tapes (SOTs), voiceovers (VOs) and packages (PKGs) are in the Facilis newscast folder before the run-through Works with anchors and producing staff on what to tease at the top of the show Serves as The Swoop's spokesperson throughout the community Works with faculty adviser and Falcon Media Manager to ensure efficient and professional operations Works all weekly sportscasts, starting in Week 5 of each semester and ending the week before finals week. Leads weekly Swoop production meetings with crew members Oversees talent auditions, evaluates talent auditions in collaboration with adviser Recruits and trains new staff Ensures deadlines are met Ensures error-free and ethically sound product Works closely with content directors to make sure BG24 editorial needs are fulfilled and in alignment with other content channels
Preferred:
One year of Swoop experience Preferred majors: Journalism, Public Relations, Media Production & Studies, VCT Demonstrated good news judgment and knowledge of the University and community Demonstrated leadership skills
Minimum GPA:
2.25 Approximately 10-12 hours per week during each semester with flexibility to align with academic schedule, $5,400 annually, intended to support educational learning outcomes. This internship is eligible for academic credit with approval from student's program/college.
