Job Description

An established independent print music publishing company in the Nashville area is seeking an experienced, highly organized Production Manager to join its small, collaborative professional team. The Production Manager plays a central role in bringing the company's music publications from production through delivery to the warehouse, with the goal of getting every product completed on time and as error-free as humanly possible. The position also encompasses reprints and inventory, recording projects, digital asset management, editorial coordination, and selected marketing and administrative responsibilities. Because the company operates with a small professional staff, this is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of projects, works well independently, and can successfully manage many moving parts at once. We are seeking an experienced professional interested in a long-term career opportunity with an established music publishing company. This is not an entry-level position. Responsibilities Production Manage production of choral, handbell, instrumental, keyboard, vocal, hymn and other music publications, including new releases, re-releases and promotional reissues. Manage reprints of backlist publications. Prepare music and coordinate with music contractors for company recording sessions. Assist with studio recording sessions as needed. Manage digital inventory and coordinate with IT consultants to help ensure protected backup of the company's digital intellectual-property assets. Maintain the company's digital-download library. Track production expenses for publications and related projects. Inventory Monitor inventory levels of key products and identify low-stock priority titles. Coordinate and order reprints as directed by company management. Editorial Communicate with composers, arrangers and other writers regarding assignments and projects as directed by company management. Marketing and Customer Support Assist with inbound telephone and website orders when needed. Coordinate email marketing campaigns and digital promotional initiatives. Supervise video production projects as needed. Assist with other company projects and responsibilities as needed. Required Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in production, publishing, project management, operations, or a closely related field. Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to manage numerous projects, deadlines and details simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and work confidently with multiple digital systems. Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects and follow them through to completion. Ability to thrive in a small-company environment where team members handle multiple responsibilities. Strong commitment to accuracy, quality, dependability and meeting deadlines. This is not an entry-level position. Preferred Qualifications Experience in print publishing, music publishing, print production or a related creative industry. Knowledge of printed music and/or experience working with musical scores. Familiarity with recording sessions, digital asset management, inventory systems, email marketing or video production. Musical background or familiarity with choral, church, keyboard, instrumental or educational music. The standard workweek is Monday through Friday, generally 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. , with a 30-minute lunch break. Compensation Starting at $45,000 annually. Final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Start Date The anticipated start date is flexible. The company is beginning its search now in order to identify the right long-term candidate and allow for an orderly transition.
