Freelancers will review speech audio and machine-generated transcriptions, accurately align individual words with the corresponding audio, and ensure annotations meet detailed project quality guidelines. What You'll Do Adjust word timestamps: Review audio waveforms and accurately adjust word boundaries to the millisecond using our annotation tool.
Correct transcriptions:
Edit automated transcriptions so the text accurately reflects the spoken audio, following project formatting requirements such as lowercase text and no punctuation.
Tokenize speech:
Split incorrectly merged words, combine words that have been incorrectly fragmented, and remove annotation segments containing only silence.
Tag vocal sounds:
Identify and segment distinct vocal activities such as laughter, sighs, pauses, and other relevant non-speech vocalizations.
Perform quality checks:
Review completed annotations for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with detailed project guidelines. Required Qualifications Previous experience with audio annotation, transcription, speech data, linguistic annotation, or audio quality assurance is required. C2/fully proficient English or equivalent , with excellent listening comprehension and the ability to accurately distinguish spoken English at both the word and phonetic level. Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify very small differences in speech timing and transcription. Ability to follow detailed annotation and quality guidelines consistently. Comfortable reviewing audio waveforms and working with visual annotation software. Strong analytical and quality-control skills. A reliable computer, high-quality headphones, and stable internet connection. Ability to learn new annotation tools and project-specific standards. Project Arrangement This is a remote freelance independent contractor engagement available to candidates located in the United States. The project offers flexible remote participation, subject to project requirements, available tasks, deadlines, and quality standards. Applicants will be required to complete a qualification or assessment stage to demonstrate their ability to accurately review speech audio, transcription, and word-level alignment according to project guidelines.
Pay:
$20.00 per hour Expected hours: 5.0 - 20.0 per week
