Broadcast Media-Montana Public Radio (MTPR) invites applications for a Rural Policy Reporter to cover state government decisions impacting rural residents of Montana. The reporter will regularly travel long distances in the state to bring coverage to MTPR's audience and distribution partners. During legislative sessions, this reporter will contribute to MTPR's daily statehouse coverage. Research, develop, and report news and feature content using a variety of sources and methods Produce, edit, and distribute multimedia content across broadcast and digital platforms Develop and maintain professional relationships with news sources, content partners, and community members Meet established content and production goals while collaborating effectively with colleagues and partners Travel regularly for reporting assignments and represent Montana Public Radio professionally in the community High School diploma or GED Valid driver's license Knowledge of journalism ethics, standards, and practices, with strong written and verbal communication skills Strong research, interviewing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, concise news content Proficiency in producing, editing, and publishing digital content across multiple platforms, including audio, video, photography, and online reporting Professionalism and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse range of people and sources Ability to work independently and effectively under tight deadlines and in high-pressure or sensitive situations Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related fields Two (2) years of experience in a reporting role, preferably in public radio or television

Work Schedule:

Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Hours vary due to needs of the unit, 12 months/year

Probationary Period:

Six (6) months minimum
