Responsibilities include, but are not limited to day-to-day operations, coordination/marketing of space for community programs and events, coordinating/implementing art exhibitions, and oversight of retail sales. The coordinator will also take a lead role in donor cultivation and stewardship events including the annual Cultural Art Exhibits, the Tamale Fest, and community partner events as key donor engagement opportunities. Coordinator will ensure that program offerings within the space are diverse and fit the various agency and community needs. Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Mattie Rhodes Senior Leadership Team in donor prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement, and engagement at all levels of giving—working closely with the Director of Development and Communications to build a robust major gifts program. This is a full-time nonexempt position, which requires flexibility in work hours.
ACCOUNTABILITIES CULTURAL CENTER COORDINATION & ENGAGEMENT
Represents MRC Cultural Center with relevant neighborhood organizations, artists, art-related organizations, civic and government agencies, establishing and strengthening strong relationships with community-based partners and other community stakeholders. Serves as the Cultural Center building coordinator working to identify and manage all logistical needs for the facility including, but not limited to activities and supplies. Works with the Director of Cultural Arts to develop marketing and outreach materials for the MRC Cultural Center, assisting with the development of programs and the coordination of events. Works directly with Public Historian/Engagement coordinator for Cultural Center to establish programming and educational content for exhibitions. Markets, coordinates and facilitates space usage requests and community-building opportunities. Works with internal MRC programs to facilitate space usage fulfilling the mission and vision of the agency and benefiting program participants and the community (i.e., vaccination clinics, Saturday yoga, career fairs). Maintains efficient office workflow and administrative processes specific to MRC Cultural Center. This includes, but is not limited to maintaining a schedule of activities and events.
EXHIBIT MANAGEMENT & MARKETING
Responsible for the oversight of MRC Cultural Center exhibition execution and the implementation of related programming (First Fridays, festival and events, etc.). Thorough knowledge of exhibit content and themes; ability to give guided tours of exhibits and speak knowledgeably about artists on exhibit as well as art techniques and mediums utilized. Create and deliver exhibit related marketing and promotional material to existing and new audiences. Maintain communication with current and potential artists who exhibit their work; obtain and update related documents necessary for exhibition and safe art handling. Develop and maintain relationships within the art community and the public pertinent to the sustainability and development of cultural arts programming. Assist Director of Development and Communications with marketing collateral, and other communications as needed—especially as it applies to Cultural Arts programming. Assist CEO and Director of Development and Communication with Cultural Center related press relations and media outreach specifically associated to expanding audiences to Cultural Center.
GIFT SHOP MANAGEMENT
Responsible for the efficient operation of a quality retail operation in accordance with budget allowances. Supervise cashiering and receipting the sale of merchandise by cash and charge transactions Submit corresponding reports to accounting. Participate in consistent inventory of merchandise and stock.

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree (BA, BFA) or equivalent with an interest in Latino Art and Culture Experience in retail sales Experience in teaching or informal education Excellent oral and written communication skills Creativity, flexibility and strong character values necessary. Marketing and public relations experience Experience working with diverse urban populations. Commitment to cultural competency in provision of services and organizational development.
