Job Overview The Lead Audio Engineer provides leadership and oversight for the audio ministry at New Ridge Fellowship. This role is responsible for the maintenance, staging, setup, operation, and troubleshooting of audio equipment used for worship services and ministry events. The Audio Lead works closely with the Tech Director to ensure excellence in audio production, develops audio volunteers through training and coaching, and oversees the technical execution of services to create a distraction-free worship environment. This role requires on-site availability for Thursday evening rehearsals and Sunday morning services year-round. You'll also work special services and events throughout the year, including Christmas Eve, Good Friday, and Easter. All dates are scheduled well in advance. Duties Work with Technical Director weekly to coordinate services and event details. Oversee the technical execution of all New Ridge worship services and special events from an audio perspective. Ensure audio systems are properly staged, configured, and ready before each service or event. Operate or coordinate operation of audio systems and related equipment as needed. Monitor service quality and address audio issues quickly and effectively. Collaborate with worship, production, and ministry leaders to support service goals and requirements. Maintain a high standard of excellence, consistency, and professionalism during all services and events. Perform routine testing, inspections, and preventative maintenance. Troubleshoot and resolve audio system issues in a timely manner. Track equipment condition and communicate repair or replacement needs to leadership. Ensure equipment is properly stored, organized, and service ready. Provide coaching and constructive feedback to help volunteers grow in confidence and technical proficiency. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Technical Director Qualifications A committed Christian who embodies New Ridge Fellowship's vision and values. Proven experience in live sound engineering and operating audio equipment, ideally in a worship or church setting. Working knowledge of digital consoles and live mixing technique. Experience with microphone selection, placement, and instrument setup for a full band. Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and maintain sound systems under time pressure. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with volunteers and staff. Ability to stay calm and focused during live services when something goes wrong. Familiarity with digital audio workstations for multitrack capture and virtual soundcheck. Experience training or coaching volunteer tech teams (preferred) Familiarity with in-ear monitor systems. Teachable - takes direction from the Technical Director and gives feedback well to volunteers.
