Location:
Peoria, IL Contract duration: 24-month contract, possibility of extension or conversion
Description :
The main function of a technical writer is to write technical materials, such as equipment materials, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions. A typical technical writer is responsible for organizing, editing and maintaining technical records and files. Responsibilities Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology. Maintain records and files of work and revisions. Edit, standardize or make changes to material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel. Confer with client to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication. Required Qualifications Minimum of 5-7 years of technical writing experience, preferably in industries involving complex equipment or technical systems Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technologies, Communications, or a related field; advanced degrees such as Master's are a plus Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail Proficiency in media production and communication techniques, including tools like Adobe, JavaScript, Oracle, etc. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and deliver high-quality documentation on tight deadlines Knowledge of instructional design principles, editing standards, and technical content structuring Familiarity with storytelling, scripting, needs analysis, and stakeholder collaboration Desired Qualifications Experience with digital content authoring platforms and Learning Management Systems Background in curriculum and training design, including microlearning and modular training Knowledge of AI applications in instructional design Experience working with cross-functional teams across regions and platforms Screening questions: Do you now or in the future require sponsorship (e.g. H-1B)?
