We are looking for a Technical Writer II to join our team at Bluefors in Syracuse, NY. In this role, you will create, revise, and maintain clear, accurate, and user-focused technical documentation that supports our products, processes, and customers. Your responsibilities will include writing and editing technical documents such as reference manuals, product manuals, user guides, procedural documentation, reports, brochures, articles, and other company documentation. You will work closely with engineers, programmers, and project managers to understand products and processes, research product samples and technical information, and determine the most effective type of publication for each project. You will assess the needs and technical knowledge of your intended audience and adjust terminology, tone, and presentation accordingly. You will also plan writing projects, establish timelines and deadlines, create or collaborate with engineers on diagrams and visual aids, and gather feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers to continuously improve technical documentation. We are looking for a candidate with a bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, or a related field and a minimum of three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and exceptional attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and accessible documentation. You should be comfortable meeting deadlines, managing multiple projects, working independently, and editing and proofreading the work of others. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software is required, along with strong experience using database, internet, spreadsheet, and word-processing software. Experience developing diagrams, charts, and other visual aids, as well as gathering and incorporating feedback from customers and internal stakeholders, will help you stand out. Location:
Syracuse, NY Pay range: $86,000-$105,000 annually (DOE) Main Responsibilities include the following:
Write and edit technical documents, including reference manuals and product manuals
Write and edit procedural documentation, including user guides and manuals
Determine the type of publication that best supports project requirements
Meet with engineers, programmers, and project managers to learn about specific products and processes
Research product samples and technical information to develop a thorough understanding of products
Assess audience needs and adjust technical terminology and tone to ensure information is clearly understood
Plan writing projects and establish appropriate timelines and deadlines
Create or collaborate with engineers to develop diagrams, charts, and other visual aids
Gather feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers to improve technical documentation
Edit and proofread technical documentation produced by colleagues
Maintain accuracy, consistency, and clarity across technical publications
Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, training documents, and other technical information
Perform additional duties as assigned What We Expect from You
Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, or a related field required
Minimum of three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
