YES Description This role supports the City's communications and public engagement efforts by creating multimedia content, managing social media and website updates, producing and broadcasting meetings and community programming, and capturing photo and video coverage of city events. The position also operates and maintains studio and broadcast equipment, ensures all content aligns with the City's branding standards, and provides technical and administrative support as needed. Evening, weekend, and occasional holiday work is required to support events, meetings, recordings, and live broadcasts, along with other duties as assigned. About the Role Under the supervision of the Director of Communication and Community Services, the Multimedia Specialist creates and manages multimedia content across digital, print, social media, website, video, and cable platforms. The role supports citywide communications, branding, and outreach through visual storytelling, collaborates with departments to promote programs and events, and assists with cable channel operations and in-house studio production. About you To be successful in this role, a strong and diverse skill set is needed, including: At least two years of professional experience in video production and photography, along with post-secondary education in multimedia, communications, marketing, graphic design, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience) Skilled in videography, photography, video editing, social media management, and digital content creation, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve, and standard office software. Strong communication, organization, and multitasking abilities are essential, as is the ability to work independently, collaborate effectively with staff and the public, operate production equipment, and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines. Multimedia Specialist The City of Romulus is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Multimedia Specialist to join our team. This position plays a key role in enhancing communication with residents, businesses, and visitors through engaging digital and visual content.
SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Communication and Community Services, the Multimedia Specialist is responsible for planning, creating, and managing multimedia content across a variety of platforms, including cable channels, social media, website, video, print, and other digital channels. This role works closely with the Community Services team to support citywide messaging, branding, and outreach efforts, while also collaborating with other departments to promote programs, events, and initiatives through high-quality visual storytelling. The position also supports cable channel operations and in-house studio production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and produce multimedia content including videos, graphics, photography, and written materials Assist with maintaining the City's social media digital presence Capture and edit videos and photos at city events, meetings, and community activities Assist with website updates and content management Manage and program the City's cable channel, including scheduling content and ensuring timely playback of meetings, announcements, and community programming Operate and maintain video and podcast studio equipment; record and produce studio-based content including interviews, public information segments, and podcasts Coordinate live or recorded broadcasts of public meetings and special events Ensure all content aligns with the City's branding and messaging standards Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Weeknight and weekend work (with some Holidays) required as needed to support community events, meetings, studio recordings, and broadcasts The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned this classification.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS
Ability to lift, carry and operate camera and various production equipment Ability to work independently, learn assigned tasks readily, and to follow oral and written instructions Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, City officials and the public Experience with social media management and content creation Strong videography and photography skills, including editing Experience with video production, audio recording, and studio equipment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines Knowledge of website content management systems is a plus Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc.), DaVinci Resolve or similar tools
Ability to use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and databases software.

EXPERIENCE
Education:
Completion of post-secondary education in graphic design, multimedia, communications, marketing, digital media, or a related field, and/or equivalent professional experience demonstrating proficiency in multimedia content creation, graphic design, photography, videography, social media management, and digital communications.
Experience:
Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience in video production and photography
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively, read analyze and comprehend simple instructions, technical procedures and manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Operator's License
Must be appropriately licensed to operate City-owned vehicle consistent with work assignment.
