Job Description

Overview DB Freedom Network is seeking a creative and dependable YouTube Producer and Video Editor for ongoing remote, project-based work. Our content focuses on public photography, freedom of speech, First Amendment rights, interactions with businesses and police, public education and comedy. We need someone who can do more than simply cut footage. The selected editor will help transform raw recordings into structured, entertaining and educational episodes. Each project will generally involve turning approximately 45-90 minutes of raw footage into a polished 30-45-minute YouTube episode. Responsibilities Review raw footage and identify the strongest story and interactions Produce an engaging 30-45-minute YouTube episode Create a strong opening hook, introduction and episode structure Write scripts for introductions, commentary, voiceovers and recaps for the channel owner to record Research relevant First Amendment and public-photography laws Provide links to reliable sources for legal information Add clear legal explanations and on-screen citations when appropriate Incorporate comedy segments, captions, memes, zooms, music and sound effects Maintain a calmer, educational tone during police interactions Preserve the proper context and chronological order of conversations Clean up dialogue, reduce unwanted noise and balance audio Use properly licensed music, graphics and sound effects Create 6-10 vertical clips from each episode Format clips for TikTok, Facebook Reels and YouTube Shorts Add accurate captions to all vertical clips Create one 30-60-second promotional trailer Design one YouTube thumbnail Complete up to two reasonable revision rounds Deliver organized, platform-ready files within the agreed deadline Editorial Standards The editor must not rearrange conversations in a misleading manner or make people appear to say something they did not say. Legal explanations must be supported by reliable sources, including statutes, court decisions or official government information. Legal content must be presented as general educational information and not personal legal advice. Comedy should be entertaining without using threats, harassment, discrimination or intentionally false claims. Sensitive personal information, uninvolved children and private details should be blurred or removed when appropriate. Qualifications Experience editing long-form YouTube videos Strong storytelling, pacing and audience-retention skills Experience with comedy, commentary, documentary, educational or street-interview content Ability to organize unstructured footage into a clear story Scriptwriting, research or content-producing experience Experience creating TikTok, Facebook Reel and YouTube Short content Strong captioning, sound-design and audio-cleanup skills Thumbnail design experience Excellent written English and communication skills Ability to transfer and manage large video files Reliable internet connection Ability to meet deadlines and respond to revision requests Preferred Experience First Amendment, civil-rights or public-photography content Police-interaction or legal-education videos Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or comparable software YouTube copyright, fair-use and music-licensing practices Compensation and Schedule Remote contract/freelance position $20 - $30 per hour based on video package Flexible working hours Expected turnaround: approximately 7-10 days per episode Continued work will depend on quality, communication, reliability and channel needs
