As we continue to expand, we are seeking a talented Architectural Specification Writer / Architect to join our team in St. Petersburg, Florida. Position Overview The Architectural Specification Writer / Architect will be responsible for developing site specific system design, specifications and construction details for a wide variety of roofing/waterproofing projects throughout North America. This individual will work closely with our project managers and field operations team to ensure project documentation meets the highest standards of quality, consistency, and technical accuracy. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile national portfolios for sophisticated real estate owners and investment groups while contributing to innovative solutions that protect and enhance valuable commercial assets. Key Responsibilities
  • Design project specific roof systems, including applicable building code review, engineering evaluations (wind pressure, roof drainage, etc.), and materials selection as appropriate for project conditions and objectives.
  • Prepare bid/construction documents utilizing master libraries, edited as appropriate for project-specific requirements and with assistance from in-house CAD personnel.
  • Collaborate with field personnel to ensure construction quality control, including consistency between construction documents, design intent, and field conditions.
  • Continually review, update and expand company's master library of roof system specifications and roofing details based on manufacturer/material changes, code/standard changes and client requirements.
  • Collaborate and promote learning opportunities for various office staff and field personnel through shared experiences and knowledge. Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering, or related roofing industry credentials, including IIBEC Registered Roof Consultant (RRC).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in architectural specification writing, architecture, building envelope consulting, or related disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of commercial roofing systems materials and installation including low-slope single-ply (TPO, EPDM, PVC), built-up roofing (BUR) and modified bitumen membrane (MBM) as well as steep-slope systems including shingle and standing seam metal panels.
  • Excellent written communication and document management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn proprietary software platforms.
  • Familiarity with roof-related codes and standards including ICC Series Building Codes (IBC, IECC, IPC, etc.), Florida Building Code, Florida Product Approvals and FM Global. Preferred
  • Registered Architect (RA) license.
  • Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) credential.
  • Experience with commercial roofing, waterproofing, building envelope restoration, or forensic consulting.
  • Experience in working with institutional owners, REITs, private equity portfolios, or large commercial property owners. Why Join Our Team?

$100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
