Part-Time Writer The Grundy Register The Grundy Register is seeking a talented and community-minded Part-Time Writer to help tell the stories that matter most across Grundy County. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people, attending community events, covering local government, writing feature stories, and highlighting the individuals, organizations, businesses, and events that make our communities special. Whether you're an experienced journalist, a strong writer looking for a flexible opportunity, or someone who simply loves local communities and storytelling, we'd love to hear from you. Responsibilities Attend city council, school board, county government, and community meetings as assigned Write news stories, feature articles, and community spotlights Cover local events, celebrations, fundraisers, and activities Conduct interviews with community members, business owners, and local leaders Take photographs when needed Meet deadlines and communicate regularly with editors Assist with coverage at other nearby newspapers when opportunities arise Qualifications Strong writing, communication, and interviewing skills Reliable transportation and ability to attend local events and meetings Ability to work independently and manage deadlines Strong attention to detail and accuracy Photography experience is a plus, but not required Previous newspaper, journalism, communications, marketing, or writing experience is preferred, but not required.
