Hybrid Position Overview Our client is seeking Web Accessibility Consultants to support the creation, remediation, testing, and maintenance of accessible electronic documents and forms intended for publication or distribution. The consultant will work closely with internal policy and business teams to ensure electronic documents are developed and remediated in accordance with
WCAG 2.1/2.2
Level AA , applicable PDF/UA requirements , organizational document standards, and established digital accessibility practices. The role requires someone who can improve the accessibility and semantic structure of official documents while preserving the original content, terminology, legal requirements, and intent. Key Responsibilities Review and remediate policy documents, protocol documents, fillable forms, and other electronic documents. Create accessible Microsoft Word source documents. Convert Word documents into accessible PDFs. Remediate existing PDFs to meet
WCAG 2.1/2.2
Level AA and PDF/UA requirements. Create and remediate accessible fillable PDF forms. Configure form fields, labels, instructions, grouping, tab order, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader functionality. Conduct automated and manual accessibility testing. Review document structure, reading order, heading hierarchy, tables, links, images, forms, and navigation. Perform quality-control reviews before documents are published. Assist with accessible Word and form templates. Identify recurring accessibility issues and recommend methods to reduce future remediation. Preserve document meaning, terminology, legal requirements, and policy intent throughout remediation. Required Skills

Color Contrast Analyzer NVDA Adobe Acrobat Pro PAC (PDF Accessibility Checker) Preferred Qualifications Experience with PAC or comparable PDF/UA testing tools. Knowledge of the Matterhorn Protocol. Experience working with government or public-sector documentation. Experience with policy, compliance, legal, or highly regulated documents. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with document accessibility, PDF remediation, accessible forms, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, WCAG, and manual accessibility testing . Strong attention to detail is essential because the consultant will be responsible for improving accessibility without changing the substantive content or intent of official documents.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Web Accessibility Consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our digital products and services are accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. This role involves conducting comprehensive accessibility audits, providing expert recommendations for remediation, and collaborating with design and development teams to implement accessible solutions. The consultant will also be instrumental in fostering a culture of accessibility within the organization through training and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough accessibility audits of websites, web applications, and digital content against
WCAG 2.1/2.2
(A, AA, AAA) standards, ADA, and Section 508 guidelines. Utilize a combination of automated testing tools (e.g., axe, Lighthouse, WAVE) and manual testing techniques, including keyboard navigation and assistive technologies (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver). Provide clear, actionable, and prioritized recommendations for accessibility remediation to development, design, and content teams. Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, front-end developers, and content creators to integrate accessibility best practices throughout the entire product development lifecycle. Develop and deliver engaging accessibility training sessions and workshops for various internal teams to raise awareness and build internal capabilities. Stay up-to-date with the latest web accessibility standards, guidelines, legal requirements, and emerging technologies. Review design mockups, wireframes, and prototypes to identify potential accessibility barriers early in the design process. Document accessibility findings, recommendations, and progress reports for stakeholders. Participate in user testing with individuals with disabilities to gather direct feedback and insights. Act as a subject matter expert and advocate for accessibility within the organization and with external partners.
