Job Description

WVSports.com, the premier online destination for comprehensive coverage of West Virginia University athletics, is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Sports Writer to join our team. Our ideal candidate is passionate about sports, has a knack for writing compelling content, and is eager to contribute to the growth of our platform. This position is best for a writer with a flexible schedule to handle breaking news. Generally, this position is held by a student writer/intern. You must live in Morgantown or the surrounding area and relocating for this job would not make sense for most people.

Morgantown, WV ( required )

Key Responsibilities:

Cover West Virginia University athletics with a focus on quick hitters, game summaries, and press conference articles Engage with our community by participating in forums and contributing to our podcast Collaborate with the WVSports.com team to develop content ideas and strategies

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Prior experience in sports writing and/or blogging Strong command of the English language with excellent writing skills

Desired Skills and Traits:

Self-motivated and able to work independently Willingness to learn and adapt to the ever-changing digital media landscape Passionate about West Virginia University athletics and knowledgeable about various sports
