Performs a variety of operational and instructional duties related to the following
Art and Education Programs:
Youth and Adult Pottery.
Supervision Received:
Works under the direction of the Arts Enrichment Coordinator.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Examples of Duties:
The following examples of duties are intended to be illustrative only and not to be construed as all inclusive. Lead instructor in studio. Instructs classes within the Pottery area for youth and adult classes. Trains new instructors on the policies and producers in the studio from teaching classes to operating equipment. Manages kiln operations and maintenance. Operates the kilns and mix glazes as the volume of the program dictates. While performing these duties, provide pottery studio supervision during open lab times. Directly manages all inventory and placement of supply orders. Maintains schedule for the studio each month. Ensure that every class and lab have an instructor. Responsible for clay industry updates which include clay types, new techniques, projects and designs. Plans and prepare your own class curriculum while providing feedback on curriculum needs for other instructors for all other classes and programs. Responsible for keeping the pottery studio clean and organized, including tables, cubby areas, kiln and glaze room, and maintaining cleanliness of wheels, sinks, slab roller and other equipment. Responsible for helping with the activity guide. Oversees and manages the Pottery Sales. Performs related duties as assigned and required.
Physical and Environmental Standards:
Must be able to repeatedly sit, walk, stand, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, reach and lift, push, and pull. Must be able to type, write, use a calculator, use a computer, and answer the telephone. Must possess the ability to use the telephone/cellphone to talk and hear. The ability to communicate face-to-face is needed. Vision requirements include near and far acuity. Must be able to properly lift/move 20 pounds unassisted and 40 pounds with help. Must be able to conduct classes at all four (4) facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Background in art programming for youth and adults. Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written formats with staff and members. Ability to understand and interpret rules and regulations which govern the HRCA membership. Ability to collect, analyze and present data in report format. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, peers and HRCA membership. Must possess or be able to obtain current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of employment. Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in art or other related areas from an accredited college or university preferred. Workshops and Certifications will be considered.
Experience:
Four years in youth and adult clay arts programming or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
