Summary We are seeking a dedicated, reliable, and dynamic educator to join our Adult Education team for the upcoming academic year. This multi-faceted role combines teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) across both virtual and in-person environments with overseeing official GED testing sessions. GED Test Proctoring (On-site) Responsibilities ESL Instruction (Online & In-Person) Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, student-centered English language instruction to adult learners of varying proficiency levels. Adapt teaching strategies for both online (zoom/virtual platforms) and traditional classroom environments. Assess student progress, track attendance, and provide constructive feedback to support language acquisition and functional literacy goals. Foster an inclusive, supportive, and culturally respectful learning environment. GED Test Proctoring Administer and proctor GED exams in strict compliance with official testing policies, procedures, and security protocols. Verify candidate identification, manage check-in/check-out processes, and enforce test-center rules. Maintain a quiet, secure, and standardized testing environment. Troubleshoot basic computer/testing software issues and report incident logs or security breaches promptly. Requirements Education Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Degree in Education, English, Adult Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field preferred. Certification Valid Michigan teaching certificate preferred. Candidates holding a valid Michigan substitute permit who demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to successfully teach adult English language learners will be considered.
TESOL/TEFL
certification, Adult Education credential, or ESL endorsement is preferred but not required. Must be willing to complete required GED/Pearson VUE Test Administrator training (provided by the District). Experience Experience teaching adult learners, English language learners, or diverse student populations preferred. Experience delivering instruction in both virtual and in-person settings preferred. Experience with standardized test administration or proctoring is desirable but not required.
