QUALIFICATIONS

Massachusetts licensure as a science teacher at the secondary school level required Bachelor's with major/concentration in a science field required Experience as a science educator at the high school level preferred Master's degree preferred MA Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Teacher Endorsement preferred Such other alternatives as the Superintendent may deem acceptable and appropriate

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop daily lesson and long-range unit plans for each course taught relating the standards to the needs of the students and maintaining the social justice priorities of the program. Develop and implement curriculum objectives in alignment with the learning standards of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for science as well as elements of career vocational technical frameworks for relevant interdisciplinary connections (e.g., horticulture, agriculture, and culinary) and academic frameworks (e.g., social studies and mathematics). Implement a variety of instructional strategies, including differentiation, to ensure student engagement, growth, and achievement. Plan, prepare, and execute effective laboratory and field work as an integral feature of food justice learning. Maintain outdoor classroom space for the purpose of sustaining a school farm. Collaborate with colleagues, program and general advisories, and other partners to identify, communicate, and implement appropriate grading practices for courses and continued food justice programming. Maintain accurate, appropriate, and efficient grading and attendance records in the designated digital system. Combine a concern for effective relationships with students with strong interest in the field. Fulfill assigned supervisory and student support duties and assignments. Accept assignments in other areas for which trained or certified. Develop active learning farm management curriculum and assessments Assess farm management needs at FHS, and elementary FPS schools including in and out of season maintenance as well as intern/mentor opportunities for FHS students to run and maintain farms. Continue to grow in the position through attendance at meetings, conferences, seminars, through readings of professional literature, and through enrollment in college or university courses. Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal and/or Assistant Superintendent.

SALARY:

In accordance with FEA Unit A contract.
