Instruct high school and adult Career and Technical Education students for in the area of Natural Resources Trades, including Integrated Math, Science, and ELA in collaboration with teachers certified in those academic areas. Teach NYSED approved Natural Resources CTE curriculum.
Performance Responsibilities:
Teach theoretical underpinnings and core content knowledge, aptitudes, concepts, technical and employability skills as they apply to Natural Resources Trades that include but are not limited to: tree maintenance, climbing/pruning/safety, logging/wood milling/fire wood, chainsaws safety and maintenance, trail maintenance, Maple Syrup production. Develop instruction, activities, project-based learning, and work-based learning experiences Teach relevant contextualized academic concepts and skills (integrated academics) Instruct students in workplace competencies, citizenship, professional communication, and related skills Develop and implement an assessment program with variety of frequent assessments to measure student growth and achievement Manage the classroom to create an engaging, supportive, safe, orderly, and productive educational environment Develop and implement procedures and processes to ensure safe use of supplies, tools, and equipment Maintain information technology competency for the purposes of instruction (in-person and remote), assessment, record keeping, program evolution and to communicate with students, parents, and school personnel Plan, requisition, control, store, maintain, and use materials, supplies and equipment as per applicable regulation, board of education policies, and school district procedures Other duties as assigned by the principal
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated annually by Building Principal as per NYSED regulation, CABOCES BOE policy and collective bargaining agreement.
Salary:
Starting at $45,600
Qualifications:
NYS Career & Technical Teaching Certification in Natural Resources & Ecology, or willingness and credentials to obtain. Must possess knowledge and expertise in natural resources and heavy equipment operation. If hired for the position, must be willing to acquire and maintain credentials to stay current in the field. Applicant must have strong math, written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with technology is a plus. Teacher experience preferred, but not necessary. Valid Driver's License required, and a Commercial Driver's License is preferred. Applicant must be proficient with heavy equipment operation. Experience in mining operations, farming, landscaping, nursery operations, forestry, wildlife management, or outdoor recreation is desirable.
